Short, because there is not much of it. Tapline shows a bar’s own menu on a screen; it is not an advertising product and it does not have an audience to sell.
The Tapline player is a display for a menu the bar wrote. Once a screen is paired it sends two things back, on a timer:
Both are about the screen, not about a person. The app has no advertising, no analytics SDK, no tracking of any kind, and asks for no permissions that would let it collect any. It does not know who is in the room and has no way to find out.
A customer scanning a table card gets a web page. No account, no app, no cookie that follows them anywhere. We do not build a profile of anyone who scans a menu, and there is nothing on that page that could.
An owner or a staff member has an account, so we hold a name, an email address and a password — hashed, never readable, not by us either. We use the email to sign them in, to send the invite that creates their account, and to tell them when a screen goes dark. We do not send marketing to it.
A bar’s menu, prices and photographs belong to the bar. We store them to put them on the screen and on the phone menu, and for nothing else.
Nobody buys it. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no third-party analytics or advertising code in the app, the board or the menu page.
Three companies are involved because the product cannot work otherwise: the one that runs the servers, the one that delivers our email, and Stripe, which handles payment if your bar is on a paid plan. Stripe is given the billing name, email and address for the bar.
Card numbers never reach us. They are typed on Stripe’s own page and stored by Stripe. Tapline never sees, holds or stores a card number, and there is nowhere in this system one could be kept.
Email [email protected] and we will delete the account and the bar’s content. Unpairing a screen removes it immediately, from the app on the TV as well as from our side.
Tapline is operated by Northsync LLC, West Seneca, New York. If this page ever changes in a way that matters, the bars running on it will be told by email rather than by a quiet edit.
